Book Meets Book

A square grid of 66 by 66 small squares, brightest along the diagonal and in blocks of related books.

Pinch to zoom in and see the picture more closely.

Each book has one row and one column. The square where two books meet is lit by how many cross references join them. The brighter the square, the more links.

Seek ye out of the book of Jehovah, and read: no one of these shall be missing, none shall want her mate; for my mouth, it hath commanded, and his Spirit, it hath gathered them.Isaiah 34:16 (ASV)

How this picture was made

The links

The same OpenBible.info list as Threads of Scripture: 344,798 links. A link is counted once and shown in both matching squares, so the grid is the same on both sides of the diagonal.

How it was drawn

Rows and columns run in Tanakh order. The diagonal line from top left to bottom right is each book meeting itself: links that stay inside one book. Brightness is on a log scale, where each step brighter means many times more links. This is needed because the busiest square holds 11,648 links and the quietest hold 1. Coloured strips on the edges mark the sections.

What it shows

What it does not show

Because of the log scale, a square a little brighter can hold many times more links. Read the brightness as "more" or "less", not as an exact amount.
